Not a quick fix but helped me level out when everything stacked upReview:I don’t usually write reviews for supplements, but this one earned it.I started taking Thorne Ashwagandha Shoden during a pretty intense stretch of life. I was starting a new job that quickly didn’t feel like the right fit, going through interviews trying to pivot out, dealing with a loss in the family, mortgage stress, and just a pile of things all hitting at once. It felt like my stress bucket was completely overflowing.So I wasn’t looking for something to knock me out or numb me. I just needed something to take the edge off enough so I could stabilize.First thing I’ll say is this is not a quick fix. For me it took several months before I could really say “ok something is different.” I don’t know if that’s because of my size, genetics, or just how dysregulated things were at the time, but this was definitely gradual.What changed wasn’t some dramatic calm feeling. It was more like the constant background tension and anticipation started to dial down. Especially at night. Sleep onset improvement was noticeable, I used to wake up in the middle of the night with my mind racing, and over time that started happening less and less.That said, I don’t think this works in isolation. Around the same time I had to take a hard look at my lifestyle. Diet ended up being a bigger lever than I expected. I shifted away from higher saturated fat and leaned more into monounsaturated fats like olive oil, avocado, walnuts, and oddly enough my sleep became a lot more stable. Less waking up in the middle of the night. This supplement felt like it supported that process, not replaced it.Also important, this doesn’t feel like a sedative and it hasn’t blunted my emotions. That was something I was cautious about going in. After several months of using it, I haven’t experienced any anhedonia, which was a big concern of mine. It just feels like it helps bring things back toward baseline instead of overriding your system.If you’re expecting something fast or something you “feel” right away, this probably isn’t it. But if you’re dealing with prolonged stress and your system feels stuck in that elevated state, this might help over time.For me it wasn’t one big moment, it was a slow shift back toward normal.
